Cornelius Jansen (1585 - 1638) was a bishop of Yanders andn early  known for his involvement in the movement known as Jansenism. One of his most important and well-known works was "Tetrateuchus” a large exegetical commentary on the Gospels. This work showed Jansens attention to literal interpretation of scripture and care to use allegory when providing commentary on scripture.

Worn leather cover, thinning. Chipped spine. Corners bumped and boards slightly warped. Edgewear.  Previous contemporary signature and writing (18th or 19th c) but interior is clean. Book is well bound. Several pages have small pest signs, but on the whole the interior is in very good condition for it's age.
