The 1980s marked a time of extraordinary collaboration
between artists and printmaking workshops. This exhibition,
selected from the Lilja Collection, presents fifty-five
works by Jim Dine, David Hockney, Jasper Johns, Roy
Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, and
Frank Stella, all well known for their extensive and
inventive work in printmaking.

Each of these artists began exploring the various
possibilities of the print mediums during the 1960s and
virtually redefined them during the 1980s. Their often
large and colorful printed compositions frequently combine
several technical processes. Some include additional work
such as painting, others demonstrate the use of handmade
papers, and all incorporate some degree of representation.
